Erika’s Bridgeport Condo Remodel

 October 27-Demo and Condo Living-

Well……remodeling in a condo building has it’s challenges and limitations. I think I may have made a few of my neighbors a bit angry during my demo process. I had not really thought about the removal of ceramic tile, the vibration, and the duration of the work….until I started this process on the 6th floor. My previous fluff and buff had been on the first floor with little effect on my fellow condo dwellers. Anyway those tile pieces were stubborn and took awhile and I had visitors that were curious about what in the world was going on up on HERE! On top of that the water shut off unexpectedly took two hours not the one hour that was the allotted time given by the rules for the remodeling and updating in our building. Oops! I am so grateful we are past this part of the process. I apologize to all my Bridgeport neighbors! Here are the pics of the stripped down bathroom and kitchen.

October 22-Tile choices bathroom and kitchen-

Demo begins tomorrow on my bathroom and kitchen so I thought would post my tile and countertop choices. I am a huge fan of simplicity……so I went of white shower tile with some texture (middle photo). The floor tile is a cream color called Ergon Back2Back in Fall White(first picture). The cream color does not show dirt.  (I want margin for error LOL). I chose quartz for both kitchen and bath countertops in Super White Honed. I included a photo of white quartz with Cherry cabs as an example because my kitchen has the same type of cabinets. Lastly, for the kitchen backsplash I am thrilled to have found this great subtle blue color by Sonoma called Aquarius. The photo does not do the color justice.

October 2017-Embarking on the Bridgeport Remodel

I am so excited to begin the process of remodeling my new one bedroom plus den in the Bridgeport Condominiums. The unit is in good condition. The building was built in 2003 and many owners are beginning to remodel. The interior finishes are in need of upgrading. The Cherry floors are in decent condition and can be refinished.  Below are the pictures of the kitchen. I am lucky that I will be able to retain the cabinets. I will be replacing the counters and backsplash. I will be purchasing all new lighting and some appliances.

Bathroom photos (and Indie my assistant)
The bathroom will be a total demo and replacement with new cabinets and sink. I am also going to attempt to pull the tub out and install a walk-in shower. Other owners have done the conversion in the building.

Keep your fingers crossed. Next post I will show you some tile and quartz choices. Indie is excited too see what is next in his new home. He is very tired of the bland tile and formica.

The lighting in most of the unit needs updating. This part of the process is really fun because it gives me an opportunity to really express some creativity. While I tend to lean towards the modern look, I am know to be a RISK TAKER and have tons of fun with decor and art choices.
